Medicare
Set-Aside Allocations
|
With
two certified consultants (MSCC) in-house, Klosterman &
Associates LLC is strategically positioned to provide Medicare
Set-Aside (MSA) services including Lien Verification, as well
as the preparation and submission of MSA Allocations to the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Conditions outlined
in the Medicare Secondary Payer Act mandate that Medicare’s
interests are accurately considered and protected when settlement
awards are received. Our professionals are educated and experienced
in producing a plan of care that will outline the anticipated
future medical care and expenses related
to compensable injuries that would otherwise be covered by
Medicare. These care expenses must be set aside from the settlement
total and placed in an interest-bearing account or structured
settlement. An MSA Allocation should be prepared for qualified
individuals, which is defined by one of the following categories: |
|
Class I: Receiving Medicare benefits & the total settlement
is greater than $25,000.
Class II: There is a reasonable expectation that the claimant
will enroll in Medicare within the next 30 months and the
total settlement amount is $250,000 or more. |
